2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Tested at Nürburgring

DURAND, Mich., –The new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was recently tested on the Nürburgring, a grueling road course in Germany, and improved upon the previous generation of the ZL1's lap time by a whole 11.67 seconds. It's total lap time recorded at a scorching 7:29.60. The ZL1 now owns the 30th fastest time to ever recorded on the track. Impressive considering the illustrious history of the course.

The ZL1 was equipped with some safety equipment but otherwise was production stock and was outfitted with the following:

• 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V-8 making 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque
• FE4 Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control
• All-new 10R90 10-speed automatic transmission (set to Track mode to enable Performance Algorithm Shift calibration, providing optimal gear selection without the need to manually select gears)
• Performance Traction Management
• Brembo brakes with front 15.4-inch rotors and six-piston calipers and rear 14.4-inch rotors and four-piston calipers
• Forged 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires
• Full underbody shielding
• Lift-reducing front fascia elements with cooling ducts and Chevrolet “flowtie”
• 11 heat exchangers
• ZL1-specific rear spoiler and diffuser

“Many fast laps around the Nordschleife are dramatic, with lots of oversteer and steering input,” said Drew Cattell, Camaro ride and handling engineer and driver. “Not so with the ZL1, which is extremely planted and stable, almost calm. With Magnetic Ride and great overall chassis balance, the ZL1 is all about being inch perfect at every turn and carrying a lot of speed.”

Halloween Driving Safety Tips

DURAND, Mich., – Everybody loves Halloween and droves of little ghouls and goblins will be out at night for trick-or-treating. Whether you're driving to a spooky costume party or dropping the kids off, make sure to follow these Halloween driving safety tips to keep everyone out of harm's way.

Watch the Vehicles in Front of You

Cars will be stopping intermittently in the street to drop kids off at houses or pick them up. So keep your eyes on the road and maybe drive a little slower. We recommend driving 5 mph below the speed limit in neighborhoods. Also, be wary of passing a stopped vehicle as kids may be exiting abruptly or not in your line of sight.

Use Your Turn Signals

Make sure to use turn signals to communicate your intentions to other drivers. It will make navigating a busy neighborhood much easier for everyone. Neglecting to use your turn signals results in over twice as many accidents as distracted driving (i.e. phones, food, loud music).

No Texting!

Again, we can't reiterate it enough that you should never text and drive, but on Halloween night you especially need to avoid distracting yourself. So put the phone down, and watch the road.

Watch out for Kids

Young, candy crazed kids are apt to run into the street by accident so make sure to keep your eyes open for them. They also may be standing by or on the curb, or in medians. So best to be cautious.

We also recommend turning your headlights on even before sunset. It will help illuminate the street and sidewalks. Some of the kids will undoubtedly be wearing dark costumes and be harder to see. Heck, some even may be dressed as ninjas and therefore even harder to see!

Yield to Munchkins Crossing the Street

Give the right of way to groups of trick-or-treaters at intersections and cross walks. It's stressful enough wrangling a group young kids as it is, so please try to help out the adults who are supervising them.

Chevrolet Blue Line Concept Models

DURAND, Mich., – Chevrolet has introduced a new concept line to be debuted next month at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Blue Line is intended to bring style, performance, and function to Chevy’s latest vehicles. The Chevy Blue Line concept models demonstrate the lifestyle and personalization options that will be available for customers wishing to upgrade their next purchase to better suite their everyday needs.

The Blue Line concept features are currently demonstrated on Malibu and Cruze RS Hatch models. Both feature Genesis White exteriors and 18-inch wheels painted slate blue metallic to match blue-tinted windows. This concept line is particularly unique because all production and concept accessories were developed alongside the vehicles, meaning they were designed specifically by the same team that created the vehicles themselves. This type of integration compliments the sporty aesthetic of the Blue Line Malibu and Cruze RS Hatch.

Chevrolet Shows Support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

DURAND, Mich., – This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! All throughout October, many organizations and communities will be participating in fundraisers, walks, and awareness events. For the last six years, Chevrolet has shown support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, nearly $1.6 million were raised by Chevy, and 84 charity walks were sponsored across the country. Get Involved

Chevrolet is encouraging social media users to show support for cancer survivors by using the hashtag #IDriveFor. For every post using the hashtag, Chevy will donate $5 up to $500,000 to breast cancer research.

Awareness Walks

Employees of Chevrolet and GM, as well as employees of Chevrolet dealerships, are encouraged to gather family members and friends to create teams for Making Strides for Breast Cancer walks. These walks provide fundraising opportunities and bring awareness to breast cancer research in our communities.

Chevy Motorsports

In addition to social media and social engagement, Chevrolet will be commissioning a pink Chevrolet SS Pace Car for two NASCAR Sprint Cup Races. For every caution lap at these events, Chevy will donate $350 up to $50,000. Breast cancer survivor special events will take place at both races.
