Chevy Introduces Teen Driver Technology

DURAND, Mich., – In the year 2000, 360,080 babies were born during the month of August. That means this month those babies will turn 16, making them eligible to drive a car. With a record number of new drivers potentially hitting the road, Chevy introduces Teen Driver Technology.

In an effort to introduce and promote safe driving habits, and as a way to give parents the ability to monitor their teen’s driving, 10 new 2017 Chevy models are equipped with a number of Teen Driver Technology capabilities. These technologies include features such as:

Automatically Enabled Safety Features

These features turn on automatically and cannot be manually shut off when Teen Driver is activated. These features include:

• Lane Departure Warnings
• Lane Keep Assist
• Front and Rear Park Assist
• Side Blind Zone Alert
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
• Forward Collision Alert
• Forward Automatic Braking
• Rear Automatic Braking
• Front Pedestrian Braking
• Stability Control
• Traction Control
• Automatic Lights

Teen Driver In-Vehicle Report Card

In addition to the automatic safety features, while Teen Driver is activated, your Chevy vehicle records the number of times certain safety features were engaged and how fast the vehicle was traveling.

Chevy MyLink Technology to Discourage Using Phones While Driving

All new Chevy models are also available with Chevy MyLink technology, which includes Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. These hands free smart phone features encourage safe driving habits and discourage distracted driving.

Customizable Audible and Visual Alerts

As well as the available safety features, Teen Driver offers customizable features to parents. This allows parents to set limits such as maximum speed, audio volume, and distance tracker. If the teen driver travels over the pre-selected speed, an audible alarm will sound.
