National Family Fun Month

DURAND, Mich., – Did you know it’s officially Family Fun Month? August has been declared National Family Fun Month and we’ve created a list of some fun things to do to spend time with your family! Whether you want to stay at home or get out of the house, hopefully you can find something to please everyone!

1. Make a Craft Together

Head over to Pinterest and pick a craft or project that everyone can do together. This list has lots of great ideas. We really like the DIY Mason jar aquariums! They should be entertaining for a large range of ages. If you have a large age gap, try something more simple and have the older kids be helpers to the younger ones.

2. Family Game Night

This classic family get together can be made more modern by including newer interactive games like Catch Phrase! Or you can let everyone pick their favorite board game and take turns playing everyone’s choices! Don't get caught up playing long games like Monopoly! Get creative! Throw in a card game!

3. Cook Something Together

Cooking a meal together is great way to spend time with family! Assign everyone a different job to help the preparation go smoothly, or pick a recipe that you are able to personalize, like pizza, so everyone gets exactly what they want. If you want to take it a step further, make grocery shopping a family affair and let everyone pick their favorite topping.

4. Go to the Movie Theatre

If you need to get everyone out of the house for a little while, the movie theatre is always a great place to go! It will also keep you cool in the A/C, or provide something to do on a rainy day! Keep in mind that snacks can get pricey, so you may want to try number 5 instead.

5. Family Movie Night

Bring the movie theatre right to your living room with family movie night. The toughest part will probably be getting everyone to agree on a movie, but hopefully the popcorn and pajamas will please everyone.
