4. Breakfast for Lunch

Send your kids to school with breakfast for lunch by using leftover breakfast items! This list has some good ideas! Try leftover waffles, muffins, fruit, yogurt, and dry cereal.

The Chevrolet Certified Service Rescue Squad to Assist Drivers in Woodward Dream Cruise

DURAND, Mich.,– This Saturday, August 20th, the annual Woodward Dream Cruise will take place in Detroit! For car lovers and enthusiasts, this event is a chance to show off and appreciate muscle cars, street rods, custom, and collector vehicles! 40,000 classic cars are expected to participate in the drive down Woodward Avenue, and for the fifth year, Chevrolet is happy to provide the Chevrolet Certified Service Rescue Squad to Assist Drivers in the Woodward Dream Cruise!

ASE Certified technicians from multiple Chevrolet locations throughout Detroit will be driving in 6 Chevy Rescue Squad Silverados to assist drivers in the case that they run out of gas, stall, or overheat. Since many of the cars participating in the Woodward Dream Cruise are classics, they may only be driven a few times a year. Hot August weather and the stop and go traffic of the Cruise are hard on the aging engines. The Chevy Rescue Squad provided some reminders for drivers participating this weekend:

• Fill up the gas tank before hand
• Ensure the battery is charged
• Check coolant levels
• Check tire pressure
• Ensure wiper blades are functioning

August is National Brake Safety Awareness Month

DURAND, Mich., – Did you know that August is National Brake Safety Awareness Month? Your brakes are imperative to your safety while operating your vehicle. At Graff Chevrolet Durand we want to make sure you’re always safe on the road, so we’ve put together this list of common signs your brakes need to be serviced. Keep in mind, there are plenty of other less obvious signs of brake failure, and lots of other things that could go wrong, so it’s important to have your brakes checked at least once a year at the Graff Chevrolet Durand Service Center. Schedule your appointment online! These indicators are signs you need to have your brakes checked:

1. Dashboard Brake Light Illuminates

This is the most obvious sign that your brakes are having an issue. If your brake light is on, first check that your emergency brake isn’t engaged. If that’s not the case then you should schedule a service appointment to have your brakes checked as soon as possible.

2. Grinding Noise

Listening to your car is the best way to tell if it’s having problem. If you hear a grinding, metal on metal noise when you engage your brakes, this is from the metal disc rubbing against a caliper, and it’s probably causing damage to your rotors. This repair is rather costly and can be avoided by having your brakes inspected regularly.

3. High Pitched Screech Noise

Another sound that can indicate your brakes are in need of service, is a loud, high pitched squeaking noise when you press on your brakes. This noise comes from the wear indicator on your brake pads that is there to warn you that your brake pads are getting worn. If you leave this problem unchecked it could turn into the grinding noise mentioned in number two. Replacing your brake pads is much cheaper than having your rotors repaired.

4. Pulling

If you notice your steering wheel pulls to the left or the right when you step on the brakes, you’ll want to have your brakes serviced right away. This is a sign of multiple brake issues, you’ll need a technician at Graff Durand to diagnose the problem.

5. Brake Pedal Vibrations

If you feel your brake pedal vibrate when you press on the brakes, this is a sign of warped rotors. Be sure to schedule a service appointment at Graff Chevrolet Durand Service Center if you notice this problem.

Remember, this list includes only a few of the most common signs of brake problems. DURAND, Mich., – Did you know it’s officially Family Fun Month? August has been declared National Family Fun Month and we’ve created a list of some fun things to do to spend time with your family! Whether you want to stay at home or get out of the house, hopefully you can find something to please everyone!

1. Make a Craft Together

Head over to Pinterest and pick a craft or project that everyone can do together. This list has lots of great ideas. We really like the DIY Mason jar aquariums! They should be entertaining for a large range of ages. If you have a large age gap, try something more simple and have the older kids be helpers to the younger ones.

2. Family Game Night

This classic family get together can be made more modern by including newer interactive games like Catch Phrase! Or you can let everyone pick their favorite board game and take turns playing everyone’s choices! Don't get caught up playing long games like Monopoly! Get creative! Throw in a card game!

3. Cook Something Together

Cooking a meal together is great way to spend time with family! Assign everyone a different job to help the preparation go smoothly, or pick a recipe that you are able to personalize, like pizza, so everyone gets exactly what they want. If you want to take it a step further, make grocery shopping a family affair and let everyone pick their favorite topping.

4. Go to the Movie Theatre

If you need to get everyone out of the house for a little while, the movie theatre is always a great place to go! It will also keep you cool in the A/C, or provide something to do on a rainy day! Keep in mind that snacks can get pricey, so you may want to try number 5 instead.

5. Family Movie Night

Bring the movie theatre right to your living room with family movie night. The toughest part will probably be getting everyone to agree on a movie, but hopefully the popcorn and pajamas will please everyone.

Chevrolet Announces the Sale of 100,000 Volts

DURAND, Mich., – Chevrolet announces the sale of 100,000 Volts in the US, making it the first model to reach this marker for plug-in vehicles. Steve Majoros, the director of marketing for Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers says this makes the Volt “mainstream,” the first of Chevy plug-in vehicles to become popular, this sets the standard for future Chevy plug-in vehicles.

The second generation Chevy Volt offers 106 mpg-e and 42 mpg, making for a combined range of 1,000 miles between fill ups. Since the Volts have been on the road, owners have driven a combined 1.5 billion miles in EV mode, saving 58 million gallons of fuel.

As well as the impact on fuel consumption, the Chevrolet Volt also offers the same convenient features that all new Chevy models offer through Chevrolet MyLink. Features include smartphone connectivity, Apply CarPlay and Android Auto, OnStar 4G LTE connection, and more infotainment options than ever.
