How to Be the Safest Pokémon Trainer There Ever Was

DURAND, Mich., – We’re sure you’ve heard about the Pokémon Go craze at this point, and you’ve probably seen more people than usual out and about staring at their phone screens. We want to give you some tips on how to be the safest Pokémon trainer there ever was and make sure you’re staying safe and having fun!

How to Be the Safest Pokémon Trainer There Ever Was

Tips to be a Safe Pokémon Trainer…

On Foot
The premise of the game is to get outside and explore in the real world. By walking to game locations like Poké stops and gyms, you can hatch your eggs and catch some Pokémon on the way! Poké stops and gyms are usually located in highly populated areas, so be sure to be aware of your surroundings.
  • Look for traffic when crossing the street.
  • Avoid walking along busy streets that don’t have sidewalks, especially in the dark. (Remember, you probably won’t find things here anyway.)
  • Don’t play alone, especially at night or in unfamiliar places.
  • Be aware of your surroundings! Don’t be rude to people around you.
On Bike
Biking is definitely a great way to get outside and exercise, but it’s not the recommended method for catching Pokémon. You can download maps of your area to check out where Poké stops are located. This allows you to plan your adventure.
  • Stay off of your phone while you’re riding. If you leave the app open in your pocket or bag then GPS can still locate you for egg hatching purposes.
  • Be aware of cars and people. Don’t try to play the game between destinations.
  • Stay aware of your surrounding and don’t leave your belongings unattended!
How to Be the Safest Pokémon Trainer There Ever Was

DON’T POKEMON GO AND DRIVE
Don’t text, don’t change the music, don’t Pokémon Go and drive. Just don’t. If you’re distracted while driving, you’re a danger to yourself and others. If you really must travel for Pokémon Go, use the map to plan your stops and don’t play in between! Keep your phone out of reach so you won’t be tempted to use it!

We hope our tips on how to be the safest Pokémon trainer there ever was will inspire you have tons of safe fun! If you have any tips to share with us, we’d love to hear from you! If you interested in a new vehicle to get you to those trainer meet-ups, come down to Graff Chevy in Durand and let one of our sales professionals put you in the perfect ride. 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD Features a New Intake System

DURAND, Mich., – Introducing the newest way to divert dry cool air into the engine of your truck, the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD features a new intake system. The new system brings sustained performance and lower engine temperatures, even during tough driving conditions. Cooler engine temperatures help the truck run better overall, especially in the harshest testing environment. “While developing this all-new induction system, we considered our customers towing a maximum-weight trailer through the Eisenhower Tunnel on a hot, rainy summer day,” said Eric Stanczak, chief engineer, Silverado HD.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD Features a New Intake System

Weather: The functional hood scoop uses an air/water separator to ensure only clean, dry air enters the engine. Rain doesn’t pose a huge threat to the intake system, the more worrisome issue for developers was the mist on wet roads and smaller water droplets. The new system managed water droplets of all kinds with ease during testing.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD Features a New Intake System

Elevation: The Eisenhower Tunnel, mentioned above is the highest vehicle tunnel at 11,000 feet above sea level. Higher elevations change the air quality. The Chevy Silverado performed well in all testing environments.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD Features a New Intake System

Towing: When driving on the highway at higher speeds, the ram-air effect helps push air into the engine. Tested at the highest towing capacity, the new intake system is designed to keep the engine cool even when it is under high duress.

The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD features a new intake system that was extensively tested for the highest performance capabilities. We’re looking forward to this truck! If you want to test drive a 2016 Chevy Silverado, come down to the dealership! We’d love to help you find a truck that suites your every need! If you've been thinking of buying or leasing a new vehicle, be sure to check out our Buying vs. Leasing page! It compares both processes and lists pros and cons of each. It's National Tire Safety Week

This week it's National Tire Safety Week! With the unofficial kick-off of summer that Memorial Day represents, vacation time and road trips may be on the mind. Take some time this week to make sure your vehicle’s tires are up to par for your upcoming adventures this summer. Don’t get stranded or left in a less than desirable situation due to unchecked tires! While some tire tragedies are simply caused by an accident, many can be prevented by following these simple maintenance tips, most of which can be done at home.

Check your tire pressure
It's National Tire Safety Week

You should know the correct tire pressure for your vehicle and check it often. The correct pounds/square inch (psi) can be found on a sticker somewhere along inside of your driver side door. Generally, most vehicles should be kept around 30 psi. You can purchase an inexpensive tire pressure gauge at a local hardware or car care store and keep it in your car. Under inflated tires can cause uneven wear and become a safety hazard if left unchecked.

Check your tire tread
It's National Tire Safety Week

Many people rely on the “penny check” to tell them if their tires are starting to wear out. If you stick a penny in between the tire tread with Lincoln’s head facing down, and you can see all of Lincoln’s head above the tread then it’s definitely time for new tires. Driving on tires that are too worn can be extremely dangerous, putting you at higher risk of sliding on the road in wet conditions. Worn tires are also more likely to become flat in the case of potholes or sharp objects.

Have your tires balanced, rotated and aligned
It's National Tire Safety Week

You can’t balance, rotate, or align your tires without the proper equipment, so it’s important to bring your vehicle in for these routine maintenance checks. Tires should be rotated every 5,000 to 7,000 miles to avoid uneven wear. You may notice that your steering wheel pulls to one side or shakes while you’re driving. If this is the case, your tires probably need to be aligned or balanced. If tires are not aligned and balanced properly, uneven wear can also occur. If you are allowing your tires to wear unevenly, you will find that you need to replace them more often, causing you to spend unnecessary money more often.

Always keep a spare tire and tools in your car
It's National Tire Safety Week

Accidents do happen even when you do everything you can to avoid them. It’s important to be prepared in case of an emergency. Keep a properly inflated spare in your vehicle at all times, as well as the proper equipment needed to change a tire. You should also always have your insurance and phone number to a roadside assistance service in the case that you cannot fix the problem yourself.

Since it's National Tire Safety Week we hope that you take some time to make sure your tires are in good condition! If you’re having any trouble or think you need an alignment check, come down to the dealership today! We always offer free alignment checks in our service center. Our ASE Certified technicians would be happy to make sure your vehicle is running smoothly this summer.

If summer has brought you thoughts of new vehicles, check out our Buying vs. Leasing page to read about the pros and cons of both processes. Once you decide which is right for you, check out the How to Buy and How to Lease pages to learn about everything that goes into each option.
