New Chevy Crossover Coming in 2017

DURAND, Mich.– If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a new Chevy crossover coming in 2017, and it will replace your beloved Equinox. But don’t worry, the Equinox isn’t disappearing, it’s just being downsized. That’s right, the 2017 Equinox will be smaller and Chevy’s new 2017 crossover will fit comfortably between the it and the Traverse, Chevy’s largest crossover.

This new plan will broaden Chevy’s crossover options for customers, giving you the choice between the extra small Trax, the Equinox, the new crossover, and the Traverse, making Chevy and Nissan the only automakers to offer four classes in the crossover segment.

Adding a new crossover will give you the option to stick with a crossover the size of the current Equinox, or go with a vehicle slightly smaller with the 2017 Equinox. This will give you more freedom of choice with Chevy, compared to its competitors, such as Ford, who still offer only three crossover options.

We know you’re waiting for some concept images and a name, but nothing has been released for the new Chevy crossover coming in 2017 other than the automaker’s plans to fit it between the Equinox and Traverse.

Something to note is that the 2017 crossover’s presence will be felt across the board at General Motors, as it will also be a base for the Cadillac XT5, slated to replace the SRX next spring, and the new GMC Acadia, which will downsize in 2016.

Downsizing the Equinox and fitting a new crossover between it and the Traverse will give Chevy two 2-row and two 3-row crossovers. Count on the new 2017 Chevy crossover looking just as good as the automaker’s other crossovers.
